Floral tributes left to little girl, 3, who died in Coast Road crash

The little girl tragically died in hospital following a crash involving a blue Peugeot 206 and a silver van around 2.30pm on Wednesday, September 2.

Tributes have poured in on social media as the community is heartbroken at the new of such a devastating loss.

A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries in the crash.

In total seven patients were taken to three different hospitals as a number of air ambulances rushed to the scene of the horror crash on the Coast Road between Horden and Blackhall Colliery.

The driver of the Peugeot and all of the other occupants in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the silver van was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Bouquets of flowers and teddy bears have now been left at the scene of the crash.

Tributes have flooded in on social media as a community shares their condolences with the family and all those involved.

The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and for investigators to begin inquiries at the scene.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnesses the crash or saw the vehicles in the area beforehand to contact police.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 207 of September 2.
