Callum Young, who will now be 27, was last seen on August 26, 2015, at his home in Hylton Road.

He was reported missing four days later on August 30 after he wasn’t seen for three days and his family were unable to get in touch with him.

Mum Colleen, 48, has made frequent appeals for Callum – or anyone who knows where he is - to get in touch.

She says there was no reason to believe Callum was unhappy or distressed and failing to stay in touch with his loved ones was entirely out of character.

She spoke to the friends he lived with at his bedsit but they all said they had not seen him.

Police viewed hours and hours of CCTV footage, interviewed family and friends and carried out enquiries on social media in an effort to find Callum at the time of his disappearance – but to no avail.

Sergeant Ross Halpin, of Northumbria Police, said today efforts to find Callum would continue: “We know how devastating Callum’s disappearance has been for his family and have worked hard to try and get them some answers."We have carried out extensive enquiries to locate him but have been unable to put together a picture of exactly what happened to him.

"It has been very difficult for Callum’s family not to know why he went missing and the five year anniversary is a painful reminder of those unanswered questions.

"His case will remain open and we will investigate any leads that may arise about his disappearance so we can try and provide some closure to his family.

"His disappearance was out of character for him and there may be someone out there who can offer some explanation about what has happened.
