Everton keeper Jordan Pickford squashes coronavirus self-isolation rumours after being spotted at North East boxing event

Pickford took to Instagram on Saturday, March 14 and told followers he had attended an event at a boxing club in Houghton after speaking with Everton FC’s club doctor beforehand to ensure both his and others’ safety.
In a statement on Friday, March 13 Everton confirmed that one of its first-team squad was self-isolating for seven days after reporting a high temperature.

Hide AdIt added: “In line with Government guidelines no other players are self-isolating at this stage but the club’s USM training facility has been closed as a precaution and staff, including players, have been advised to stay away from all club sites until further notice.”
On Instagram, Pickford – who has a one-year-old son Arlo with childhood sweetheart and new wife Megan Davison – said: “Contrary to reports in some newspapers I am not in self-isolation.
“Last night I attended a boxing event with my family.”
“There are many young grassroots boxers training here and it helps the local community.
“I had made a committment to them that I would attend the event and prior to going, I spoke to our club doctor to ensure I was okay to attend.

Pickford was born in Washington and has played for Everton since June 2017.
