Emergency services called to reports of concern for man in Sunderland
Police cordoned off a section of Durham Road near Sunderland College following concerns for the welfare of a man.
Emergency services were called shortly before 11pm on Sunday, March 7, where officers were able to bring the man to safety and into the care of mental health professionals.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 11pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a male in the Durham Road area of Sunderland.
“Officers attended and the man was brought to safety. He was left in the care of mental health professionals.”
The road was cordoned off to traffic while emergency services attended.
