From beautiful beaches to a proud industrial heritage, Sunderland has so much to be proud of.

Followers of our Wearside Echoes Facebook group – dedicated to the Echo’s nostalgia and retro coverage – got in touch to tell us their favourite things about living and working in the city.

National Mackem Day is recognised on August 12, and though we don’t need an excuse to shout about all the things that make Wearside wonderful, this seemed like the perfect time to do it!
