Double win for Sunderland as two businesses scoop Checkatrade awards

Two Sunderland businesses have been crowned regional winners at the Checkatrade Awards.

Garry Ferguson, of Garry Ferguson Decor, and David Boucher, of ATW Tree & Landscaping Specialists Ltd, were crowned winners of Checkatrade’s Painter and Decorator of the Year and Community Hero awards respectively for North England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The annual Checkatrade Awards shine a spotlight on tradespeople who go above and beyond for their customers all year round.

Winners are selected not only for their craftsmanship but also for their commitment to professionalism, reliability and helping homeowners feel confident when choosing a trade.

Jambu Palaniappan, CEO at Checkatrade, said: “Great trades earn their place on Checkatrade and keep earning it but members like Garry and David go a step beyond this already high bar.

"The Checkatrade Awards are all about celebrating the pride and effort our outstanding members put into their work and shining a light on their achievements.

"We’re very proud of them all.”

Every tradesperson on Checkatrade has to pass up to 12 checks before they can join and agree to uphold the Checkatrade standard consistently.

Checkatrade also regularly monitors trades once they are on the platform through in-life monitoring and customer feedback, so only those who keep delivering great work stay on it.

The Checkatrade Awards celebrate the trades who clear that bar and keep going beyond it.

A national final will take place in London on November 19, where category winners from all of the regional events across the UK will come together for the ultimate celebration of trade excellence.
