Applications to join Durham Constabulary as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) will open on Friday, November 22 at 5pm.

If you’re interested in joining the police force Durham Constabulary is looking to recruit 40 new PCSOs who will work alongside warranted officers to help tackle antisocial behaviour, conduct house-to-house enquiries and guard crime scenes.

What is the role of a PCSO?

PCSOs are full-time, paid employees who play a ‘vital’ role in keeping the community safe. As part of the role, they also work with individuals and partner agencies to support vulnerable people and solve local concerns and problems. They work alongside warranted officers to help tackle antisocial behaviour, deal with minor offences, investigate low-level crimes, conduct house-to-house enquiries and guard crime scenes.

How much does a PCSO earn?

The role has a starting salary of around £18,951 per annum.You will also be paid extra for shift allowance and weekend working of 23%, giving an overall starting salary package of £23,350 rising to £24,800 per annum.

What are the requirements?

Applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply, and there is no upper age limit.
