Carrying knives and dropping cigarettes - a round up of recent Sunderland court cases

Kristopher Julian Southam, 33, of Ramilies Road, Red House, Sunderland, received a 19-week jail sentence, which was suspended for 12 months, after he admitted two counts of unlawfully possessing knives in public on January 29.

Liam Curtis Steabler, 20, of no fixed address, received an absolute discharge after he admitted possessing amphetamines in Sunderland on October 14.

Adam Anderson, 36, of Norfolk Avenue, Sunderland, was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without a valid licence and insurance on October 20.

Mark Ditchburn, 46, of Bewicke Road, Wallsend, was placed on a 10-day electronic curfew as part of a community order after he admitted harassing a man in Whitburn between March 5-19.

Darran Armstrong, 22, of Ravensworth Square, Red House, Sunderland, was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £150 costs after admitting breaching the Environmental Protection Act by discarding a lit cigarette in the Market Square on September 25 last year.

Carl Bowman, 49, of Hexham Road, Sunderland, was fined £220 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £150 costs after he was convicted of breaching he Environmental Protection Act by discarding a lit cigarette in Crowtree Road on September 2 last year.

Alan Hall, 52, of Christon Way, Gateshead, was banned from driving for six months under the totting up process, fined £287 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after he admitted speeding through the 40 miles per hour A19 Testo’s Roundabout roadworks at 51 miles per hour on October 24 last year.
