Washington care home staff and residents cheering on England with 'Vindaloo Challenge' ahead of game against Germany in Euro 2020

The team at St Martin's Washington Manor Care Home and its residents have been showing their support for the England team by singing, dancing and waving the flag for England ahead of the big game at Wembley.
In a video posted on Facebook, residents and staff joined in the ‘Vindaloo challenge’, which was set by the homes provider to get care homes across the North East to show their support for the Three Lions to the classic England anthem, Vindaloo.

Hide AdThroughout the tournament, residents at Washington Manor have been cheering on England in the group qualifying matches and anticipation is building in the home for the game against Germany.
Manager at St Martin’s Washington Manor Care Home, Wendy Mcintyre, said: “The residents have loved supporting England in the euros so far. It’s been great to get behind the team and hopefully we can keep going!
“The vindaloo challenge was a great bit of fun and the residents really enjoyed getting involved and supporting the team.”
St Martin’s Washington Manor Care Home has also had a football-themed makeover for the euros, with the home covered in football balloons and St George crosses.
The home houses more than 50 residents and provides residential, dementia and respite care for elderly residents.
It is located on Hollin Hill Road and is part of the SMC group, which has care homes across the North East.
Residents and staff are looking forward to seeing England take on Germany in the Euro 2020 round of 16 and are crossing their fingers the three lions can progress in the tournament.
Wendy added: “Everyone at St Martin’s will be cheering them on!”
