Kirsty Gunn, from Washington, founded Adventure Pups to offer a dog walking business with a difference, providing more adventurous trips out for their hounds.

The 24-year-old quit her job working in water filtration to found the company, taking dogs on hikes all around the North East, which she says exercises their brain as well as their body.

“A lot of people just walk their dog around the block and do the same walk everyday, but they need more mental stimulation,” she said.

“I’ve had dogs my whole life and I’m really passionate about animals and my work. We like to break the mould of your typical dog walk.”

Kirsty is keen to ensure no walk is ever the same for her dogs, travelling all over the North East to make sure dogs see new places and have different experiences.

Some Adventure Pups locations in Wearside include Penshaw Woods and Elba Park.

“We want your dog to get more out of life so our adventures are tailored to ensure they work all their senses stimulating both their body and mind,” said Kirsty.

She said long-term plans for Adventure Pups include offering board and pet sitting, and she aims to keep dog walking services affordable for the community.
