From healthcare workers and delivery drivers, to supermarket staff and teachers; Sunderland has so many incredible people to be proud of. You have been sharing your stories about the people who mean the most to you. Here, we meet 20 of the city’s key worker heroes.
5. Lorri
Charlotte Louise Mather: My mam is a senior support worker in the community. She's been assessing any discharges from the hospital to make sure they have care in place; she has worked 70 hour weeks to help out! Unfortunately she now has all symptoms of Covid-19 and is now isolating with pneumonia. I've never been more proud of her! Photo: UGC
6. Elizabeth Fleming care home
Louise Ratcliffe: All the staff at Elizabeth Fleming care home in Hetton. Total heroes every one of them. Making this very tough time more bearable. Setting up a Whatsapp group to keep us all connected. FaceTiming us so we can see and talk to our family. Staying away from their own families to protect ours. Photo: UGC

Lindsey Kimberley: One of my best friends Donna Peterson for all those tragic deaths to this horrible virus these wonderful caring people still leave their families and go to work. A forgotten key worker profession! I’m proud of you Donna. Photo: UGC
