Friends of Doxford Park do a great job of promoting the park and before lockdown were running a crowdfunding campaign to enhance the city's only walled garden. Known as the 'Secret Garden', it's housed within the park.

17. Hylton Castle and dene

While the castle has undergone a major revamp to turn it into a community and events space, it also provides a majestic backdrop to the surrounding play park and dene.
