After a run of three wins and one battling defeat, the Black Cats slumped to an abject 3-0 loss at Swansea City to send them back to the bottom of the table.

But Djilobodji insists they must draw a line under the defeat, arguing there can be no negative thoughts with back-to-back home games with Chelsea and Watford this week.

“We have lost to Swansea, but that’s life,” said the defender who was one of the bright spots of a miserable afternoon at the Liberty Stadium.

“We have to stay strong, we have to stay together to keep Sunderland in the Premier League.

“We don’t need the negativity because we have the people behind us, the fans of Sunderland, they are every supporting us, they were at Swansea.

“We need them all season and I think we are going to give them what they deserve.

“They deserve the team to stay in the Premier League and we are going to work to do that.

“It is going to be difficult against Chelsea, but we can do better than Saturday and we need to look forward.”

Sunderland looked in good shape at the break at the Liberty Stadium, only to go down to three second half goals from Fernando Llorente (2) and a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty.

“We are disappointed with the result,” added Djilobodji in an interview on www.safc.com.

“We will have a rest and then we’ll come back and look to get a good result against Chelsea.

“It wasn’t our day, but we will improve and we’ll do better against Chelsea.

“We have to stay positive, we’ve just had three victories in four games.”
