Staying active in self-isolation: How PE sessions with The Body Coach Joe Wicks have kept me going in the first weeks at home

And at this point, I can’t express just how much I would love to go for a run in the actual fresh air or enjoy a session in an actual gym, on real equipment, with other people going through their own fitness turmoil nearby.

Hide AdDue to the current lockdown restrictions imposed by the UK Government as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, families are restricted to one bout of daily exercise – like a walk, run or cycle – with those in their household.
But for those of us with a non-negotiable 12 weeks at home, it’s been time to get creative.
Enter, Joe Wicks.
Now, let me say, I’ve never been a huge fan of workout videos.


In the privacy of my own home, I’ve never had the motivation to fire up the iPad or telly and have someone put me through my paces.

Hide AdBut without Joe’s daily PE sessions – which are broadcast live on The Body Coach TV at 9am each weekday on YouTube – I would have officially lost it.
I like to think I’m pretty fit and active, but four weeks of PE With Joe have given me something to look forward to at the end of work each day.
Though I’m not racking up anywhere near as many steps as usual, I can definitely see an improvement in my fitness. During lockdown! Who knew …


So if – when life eventually returns to normal – you see me trying to wriggle away from a workout session, please remind me of the months I spent without the chance to go.
