Quarter of Echo readers polled online say they would not get a coronavirus vaccine

Twenty-five per cent of Echo readers who took part in an online poll said they would not get a vaccine against Covid-19.

The question came as research carried out on behalf of the Centre for Countering Digital Hate found that almost a third of Britons ‘definitely will not’ or are unsure about whether they will get a vaccine.

Six per cent of the 1,663 people polled said they would definitely not get vaccinated.

A further 10% said they would ‘probably not’. Another 15% said they did not know.

This takes the numbers of those who may not get vaccinated against coronavirus up to almost a third.

More than 1,400 people voted in our own Facebook poll on the issue, with 25% (around 350 people) saying they would not get a Covid-19 vaccine at time of writing.

John Redman: “My understanding is the process for vaccines and drugs to go through 'full’ clinical trials is anywhere between seven to 12 years and yet the authorities want us to believe a vaccine can now go through the full process in a couple of years.”

Tony Isles: “It's the only way we will ever get back to the real normal, stop worrying that your fellow human is going to give you the virus, and ridding the overwhelming negativity that has appeared over the last few months.”

Brian Long: “Telling everyone to get the flu jab this winter in case of a second wave hopefully there's plenty of stock and they start inoculating early enough.”

Shaun Sayers: “If anyone would rather acquire their immunity by contracting the disease than through a vaccine then good luck to them.”

Mandy Tucker: “I've voted yes but not necessarily within the year of one being available unless there was enough studies done to say it was ‘safe’.”

Dannii Roper: “Vaccine hasnt been around long enough to know it's safe. I’m really struggling to say yes to a vaccine.”

Sue Carrick: “I'm not prepared to get it until it's been tested properly and not rushed through.”
