Thair Altaii worked at Redhouse Medical Centre in Sunderland between 2005 and 2014. It was in the summer of 2014 that a patient of Redhouse Medical Centre raised concerns that she believed she had been covertly filmed by Thair Altaii using mobile phones in the consultation room. Thair Altaii was subsequently arrested and his devices seized. Over 19,000 images of women were found on Thair Altaii’s devices by police. The photographs and video footage found by the police showed female patients in various stages of undress all of which had been taken in his surgery.

Thair Altaii was subsequently found guilty at Newcastle Crown Court of three counts of voyeurism and sentenced to 14 months imprisonment.
