One person taken to hospital after crash which has closed off A19 junction
Traffic is being diverted after a collision on a busy route close to the A19, with one person taken to hospital after they were injured in the crash.
The North East Ambulance Service was called at 4.43am this morning, Tuesday, April 13, to reports of a crash at the junction of the A19 and A182 near Murton.
It sent two ambulance crews and took one patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
The AA has confirmed the incident has led to the closure of the A182 in both directions between the Admiralty Way roundabout, close to the Fox Cover Industrial Estate in Dawdon, and the A19 interchange at Murton, the turn off for Dalton Park.
Highways England has said the “police incident” has led to the southbound exit from the A19 being closed and urged drivers to allow extra travel time for their journey.
Go North East has said services 202, X6, X9 and X10 are running to a slight delay due to the incident.
