Northern Rail trains affected after vehicle hits bridge near Seaham
A spokeswoman from Northern Rail has confirmed trains are now back up and running following the incident near a bridge in Dawdon at 4.50pm.
Trains were at a standstill this afternoon after the collision while Northern Rail engineers assessed the bridge to see if it was safe for travel.

Hide AdA Northern Rail spokeswoman said five services running between Hartlepool and Sunderland in both directions were affected but service resumed at 5.50pm.
The 6.03pm Middlesbrough to Nunthorpe train was cancelled but an additional service from Newcastle to Carlisle was put in place at 5,54pm.
Some delays of 30 to 45 minutes are expected.
