NHS will always provide free service

In his letter Mr W Quinn (March 6) complains about me pointing out that Labour introduced privatisation into the NHS.

He claims they did what was necessary at that time. However, he goes on to criticise the current Government.

So now we have it: Labour privatisation good, Conservative privatisation bad.

Mr Quinn repeats his assertion that under this Government “patients would have to pay for medical treatment”.

It is breath-taking that Mr Quinn feels he can repeat these claims without a single shred of evidence.

This is simply not true.

The NHS will continue to provide a service free at the point of use.

Perhaps Mr Quinn thinks that if he says it enough more will believe him.

President John F Kennedy once said “no matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the masses will regard it as truth”.

Mr Quinn concludes his letter by using a quote from the Director of the NHS Support Federation, a left leaning group, established by none other than Prof Harry Keen, a supporter of the Socialist Health Association and late uncle of Labour’s Ed Miliband.

Hardly a source of impartial comment.
