New Sunderland home strip for 2016/17 season revealed

Sunderland AFC has unveiled its home kit for the 2016-17 season, with the new-look strip set to go on sale next week.

The shirt bears the name of the club’s principal partner Dafabet, and features the Black Cats' classic red and white stripes.

Gold detailing throughout the branding on the kit also pays tribute to a classic club colour and marks a move back to the predominantly red base design.

The new adidas kit includes the latest in cutting edge Climacool material, designed to provide the players with the best in lightweight and breathable technologies.

The shorts are Sunderland’s traditional black, with gold detailing. Red socks make a return for 2016-17 and feature black and gold accents.

Modelling the new kit, striker Jermain Defoe said: “The Sunderland shirt is iconic and instantly recognisable across the world.

"Every player is tremendously proud to pull on the historic red and white stripes and we love this new shirt.”

The home kit will go on sale on Thursday, May 5, and will be available online or in the club’s three retail stores, at the Stadium of Light, The Galleries in Washington or Debenhams in The Bridges, Sunderland.

A brand new away strip for the 2016-17 season is also set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
