Sunderland have been linked with a host of Man United fringe players ever since Moyes took charge at the Stadium of Light and the new Black Cats boss has confirmed that Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini both interest him.

However, Moyes doubts whether Sunderland would have the financial clout to sign Fellaini, while there were reports yesterday that the Belgian midfielder wants to stay at Old Trafford anyway.

Moyes is perhaps inevitably casting his eye over both of his ex-Premier League employers though, as Sunderland search for a transfer breakthrough and the five additions which the Scot believes the Black Cats require before the end of the window.

But Moyes knows that Sunderland are far from the only Premier League club who will be casting their gaze at Old Trafford or Goodison Park for fresh blood.

He said: “There would be players at both clubs that would interest me if they were available.

“But what we must not do is get people’s hopes up because that might not necessarily happen.

“A lot of clubs will be going to those two clubs asking if their fringe players are available. We do have to get players for the team and also for the squad who we think have got a good chance of progressing in the future and becoming good players.”
