Burnmoor extended their unbeaten start with a third win in four matches, thumping visitors Blaydon by 93 runs to stay second.

The hosts made 167-5 in 49 overs before Blaydon were skittled for 74 in the 27th over.

Allan Worthy hit 84 not out, with Mackenzie Wright scoring 45, in Moor’s total of 167-5.

Close-season signing Marc Symington then starred with the ball, taking an excellent 6-33, with only Joseph Reynolds (31) offering much resistance.

Brandon had a ‘winning draw’ at Castle Eden in a cracking clash which brought 449 runs.

Karl Turner’s tremendous, opening knock of 93, with 17 fours and three sixes, inspired Brandon to 240-9 declared after 44.5 overs.

Matthew Brown added 28 in a partnership of 83 for the first wicket, while Durham’s Ryan Pringle had five fours and a six in 45 and Chris Peareth hit four boundaries in 21.

Alan Unsworth took the bowling honours with an impressive haul of 6-63, while Ryan Ball took 2-65.

In reply, Castle Eden just held on for the draw after 60 overs, closing on 209-9.

Saeed Bin Nasir top-scored with eight fours in a run-a-ball 45, while Liam Irwin had three fours in 33. Unsworth and Keith Bailey added 19 apiece, with Phil Wimpenny making 14 and Ball 13. Their last pair put in an unbroken partnership of 32 to see out the draw.

Stephen Humble snaffled 4-31 for Brandon, while Turner took 2-55.

Sunderland, who have won both of their home matches so far, suffered a second defeat on the road, going down to Willington, who climbed to fourth place.

The visitors were dismissed for only 79, with all five bowlers taking two wickets apiece.

Gerasimos Fatouros, with 38 not out, eased Willington to a convincing nine-wicket win.

Burnopfield walloped South Shields at Wood Terrace, after declaring on 231-5 after 48 overs, despite falling to 2-2.

Adam Khan (23), Lee Whitfield (27), John Oswell (72), Gareth Breese (77no) and Callum Thorp (20no) did the damahe, with Michael Dunn taking 2-32.

In reply, Shields were dismissed in 28.3 overs for 88.

Sam Embleton top-scored with 19, backed by Muhammad Uzair Afaq (16), Dunn (15) and Mark Appleton (17), while Shea Clements was unbeaten on 12.

Neil Killeen took 3-31 and Thorp 3-18 as Shields never recovered from slipping to 20-5. Oswell and Owen Shield took two wickets apiece.
