Motorcyclist escapes with minor injuries following a crash on Leechmere Road

A motorcyclist was left with minor injuries following a crash on Leechmere Road in Sunderland on Monday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 7pm on Monday, December 7, at the roundabout opposite the Hollymere pub.

It is understood that the motorbike was the only vehicle involved in the crash and that the rider was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “There was a one vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle on Leechmere Road at 7.06pm.

"The ambulance service were called and the rider is reported to have had no serious injuries.”

A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson added: “We were called to a motorbike accident by Northumbria Police at around 7.35pm.

"We then received another call from the police telling us to stand down as the rider had already been taken to hospital by someone else before the ambulance had arrived at the scene.”
