Motorbike rider taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital following accident on road to Penshaw
A motorbike rider has been taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment after they came off their bike in an accident this afternoon (Saturday, May 30).
The incident took place at around 2.50pm on the A183 heading towards Penshaw – the extent of the rider’s injuries are not known.

It is not believed that any other vehicle was involved.
The rider was tended to by an off duty paramedic before the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) arrived on the scene.

Hide AdA spokesman for NEAS said: “We received a call at 2.52pm from a passerby saying a rider had come off a motorbike.
“An off duty paramedic assessed the patient before an ambulance crew arrived at the scene.
“The rider was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment.”
