Police launched an appeal last night after 13-year-old Jack Kearns, from Hetton, was reported missing.

Officers believed he may be in the Hartlepool area.

Northumbria Police have now confirmed Jack is safe.

A spokesman said: "Thanks for helping - missing 13-year-old boy Jack Kearns, from Hetton-le-Hole, has been found safe and well."
