Mill View B secure Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League Division Two title after nervy win

A 28 break helped Gary Stockton get Murton off to a winning start, but a 25 break helped Lee Dixon level the match.

A 23 break saw John Spruce move Mill View into the lead, before Steve Chandler won the fourth frame.

Eddie Williamson/Stephen Clementon teamed up well, winning the pairs 74-26 to make the final score 3-2 to Mill View and they were crowned champions.

Lumley A finished runners-up when they defeated The Railway 3-2 after Martin Ball and Paul Stoves soon put them in control.

Joe Beston and Paul Nord had a tussle in the third frame before Joe potted the final black to win the frame, but a shortage of Railway players meant Lumley won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Gary Turner/Joe Beston dominated the frame winning 61-5 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

The match between Mill View A and Pennywell Comrades was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Pennywell took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Seaham Conservatives edged to a 3-2 victory when they travelled to The Victory.

In Division One, South Hylton completed the whitewash when they played Biddick B, thanks to Graham Rutland, Bobby Boyce, Ian Stewart, Kevin Harrop and the pairing of Rutland/Stewart.

Elsewhere in the division, Washington Snooker A finished runners-up with a 3-1 victory over Green Baize.

Whitburn edged out Lumley B to seal a 3-2 win and Glendale beat Washington Snooker B 4-1.

Biddick A took the first two frames at home to Steels, thanks to Michael Riley and Stephen Tate.

Ray Charlton Junior controlled the third frame for Steels before Dave Adamson potted well to beat Jimmy Gales.

In the pairs, Jimmy Gales/Ray Charlton Junior defeated Dave Adamson/Terry Froud to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

In a re-arranged game, Whitburn strolled to a 4-1 victory over Biddick B.

H Norman Leslie clinched the Open Singles title when he saw off Stephen Thompson 3-0 in the final.

Congratulations also goes to Dean Wilson, who won the Handicap Singles final, beating Sean Henderson 3-1.

Entry money for the Summer League is to be paid and all trophies won last season must be returned. Members are also welcome to attend the handicap meeting (starts at 7pm).
