Manhunt after robbery in Peterlee

Police are hunting a man who threatened a woman with what appeared to be a gun in a robbery in Peterlee.

The raid occurred at the Oddies store in York Road between 5.15pm and 5.20pm on Friday, February 17.

The man threatened a female member of staff with what looked like a silver handgun. It is not known if the weapon was real.

He demanded money from the till and the member of staff was forced to hand over approximately £200. He then grabbed the cash and ran from the store.

The suspect was wearing dark clothing and had a scarf covering his face.

Police enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and detectives have now released CCTV pictures of the incident.
