Man Tasered by armed police after allegedly leaving scene of car accident in Seaham

Armed police Tasered a man after he allegedly became aggressive when he was involved in a traffic smash.

Officers from Durham Police were called out to Seaton Lane, in Seaham, shortly after 7am on Saturday, following a minor crash between two cars.

One of the drivers is alleged to have fled the scene after becoming aggressive.

Officers tracked the man down to a house in Leechmere Crescent, also in Seaham, where he was Tasered before being arrested on suspicion of carrying out a public order offence.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

No-one was injured in the traffic crash.
