Man arrested after stand-off with police on garage roof

A man has been arrested following a stand-off with police on a garage roof this morning.

Police have been called to deal with an incident involving a man on a garage roof.

Durham Police officers were called to a property on Jude Place, Peterlee, at 7.05am today, following reports of a man on a garage roof.

The 32-year-old man was brought down from the roof by police at 9.15am and was then arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breach of a restraining order.

He is now in police custody.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police were called to a property in Jude Place, Peterlee, shortly after 7.05am today following reports of a man on a garage roof.

"The 32-year-old man was brought down from the roof at 9.15am and arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breach of a restraining order.

"He remains in custody in Peterlee."
