Liverpool have weaknesses '“ Sunderland shouldn't just park bus

The odds of Sunderland making it three wins in a row against Liverpool might be against them, but with confidence as high now as it has been all season, the team must believe they can cause an upset.

The players should use the fact they’ll be written off as extra motivation and when expectations are low it means that the pressure is low too.

These are the sort of games that anything Sunderland can get will be a bonus – a draw would be great and a win, well, that would be party time.

The red half of Merseyside is flying high at the moment – just one place off the top and, attacking-wise they are as good as any team I’ve seem so far.

However, I hope Sunderland don’t just go there to park the bus as Liverpool have weaknesses at the back. They are not as good defensively as they are going forward.

And with our strikers in good form, they can exploit that.

Sunderland’s season has been turned around thanks to consecutive wins but it’s strange how the only two league victories have brought a red card in each game meaning David Moyes will again have to make at least one change with Papy Djilobodji’s suspension, just when he was starting to get to grips with the Premier League.

I thought Sunderland’s bench looked strong against Hull, with the likes of Lynden Gooch, Wahbi Khazri, John O’Shea, Adnan Januzaj and Javier Manquillo having to settle for being subs.

With Steven Pienaar available on Saturday and Jan Kirchhoff and Fabio Borini hopefully getting close to a return, suddenly Moyes has more options than he has had all season, so I will be interested to see his line-up on Saturday.

I love going to Anfield, it was my favourite away ground as a player and I’m looking to seeing the newly-redeveloped stadium which has increased the capacity, but the sell-out away fans will definitely make their presence felt and will add massively to what should be a great atmosphere.
