Letter of the week: 'Give Sunderland youngsters a chance to have a roof over their heads'

I would like to respond to plans to turn the doctors' premises in Silksworth into accommodation for young people by the YMCA and the objections to this.

For goodness sake give these youngsters a chance to have a roof over their heads and, hopefully, have a better life.

I lived on that road for 81 years and many decent people still do.

If there are any problems the YMCA has not caused them, so do not denigrate an area that has nothing to do with your campaign.
