Around 15,000 flocked to the first Let’s Rock the North East in June to see headliners Tony Hadley, Kim Wilde, Midge Ure, Heaven 17 and Go West.

Following the event’s success, which sold out, organisers have announced they will return to Herrington Country Park on June 8, 2019.

Although the headliners won’t be announced until October 1, festival-goers can expect another strong 80s line-up at the family friendly festival, which will run from 10am to 10.30pm.

The Sunderland event is the latest to be held by the Let’s Rock brand, which also stages 80s festivals in areas including Bristol, Leeds, London and Scotland.

Early bird tickets for next summer’s festival will go on sale on August 31 priced £30.

Highlights will also include entertainment for children with an interactive circus, face painting, inflatables and more.

Children aged 12 and under have free entry.
