The call was received last night.
Emergency services were called to Sunderland seafront late last night, Sunday, June 11.
South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade and Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team attended Roker Pier shortly after 11.30pm following reports of an intoxicated person in distress.
No sign of anyone was found when teams arrived and the incident has been recorded as a false alarm with good intent.
