KATIE BULMER-COOKE: CBB and glow stick aerobics!

This week I'm going to share with you my guilty pleasure. I'm a little embarrassed to admit I'm addicted to Celebrity Big Brother.

I can’t stop watching it. It’s total car crash TV. The celebs are a total cringe-fest and it’s making me stay up an hour past my usual bedtime (I’m usually in bed for 9pm), but I just can’t say no to it.

My favourite is Darren Day, purely because he comes across as a very down-to-earth guy with a normal personality and he doesn’t appear to be big headed in any way.

Gemma Collins on the other hand, now she’s another story. I can’t believe that anyone can be such a diva. She’s had other housemates running about after her left, right and centre and she’s forever throwing tantrums.

Now, while we are on the topic of Gemma Collins, did you see how awful she was to the hairdresser who came into the house to give her a blow dry? She was such a brat and so rude, bossing him about and telling him how to do his job.

This week, in between watching Celebrity Big Brother, I’ve also been off on my travels again, this time to Belfast where I was launching my fitness class concept Good To Glow. It’s old school aerobics in the dark with glow sticks, and wow, what a reception it got. At the launch night it was buzzing.

There were loads of people there and they are so excited for the classes to start. While I was there I also trained up the instructors who will be delivering the classes and I had the best laugh.

I loved that they didn’t take themselves too seriously and they were all about the people in their class, two fantastic qualities that all instructors should have but unfortunately many have lost in a sea of being bitchy on Facebook about their competitors and loving themselves a little too much. The industry needs a shake-up in my opinion.

I saw in the news this week that some schools in our region have issued warnings to parents who turn up at the school run in their PJs, telling them to get up, get washed and make themselves more presentable, and I couldn’t agree more.

What are we teaching our kids if we can’t even be bothered to get ready on a morning? Now I’m not saying we should be turning up with a face full of make-up and a designer outfit but we should at least be having a shower and getting dressed if we want to set a good example of our kids, and in addition, not only is it a bit scruffy, it’s also not a good look. Even Kate Moss couldn’t pull that one off.

Did you do Dry January? I did. But saying that I haven’t had a drink for four years. At this point I feel the need to clarify that I didn’t have a problem or anything, I just don’t like the stuff.

I never really liked the taste, I used to just force myself to drink it because my friends did. I totally hate the feeling of being drunk, I think that’s because I’m a teeny bit of a control freak.

But I do appreciate that most people like a drink, so a massive high-five to everyone who completed Dry January. If you did, what’s your next challenge for February? If you haven’t got one, or even thought about it, then how about Fit February?

You could do something every day that makes you more active. Maybe doing the boring classic of using the stairs instead of the lift (the Government loves churning that one out ... yawn!) or going for walk in one of our city’s lovely parks or trying a new fitness class that you’ve never done before.

Whatever you choose, good luck and let me know by tweeting me @KatieBulmer1.
