Junior cricket: Nathan on son to inspire Ryhope victory over Seaham Harbour U18s

Ryhope enjoyed a fine 67-run win over Seaham Harbour in the DCB Under-18s' South East Division.

Nathan Bennett’s unbeaten 89, plus 37 from Matthew Kirtley, led Ryhope to 148-2. Harbour responded on 81-7, with Callum Hutchinson making 38 and Jarryd Robinson 19 while Josh Dick struck twice.

Murton beat Easington by 29 runs after posting 94-6, inspired by Robinson (37) and Hopkins (24), with Grant Akers bagging 2-13.

Easington struggled to 65-6 in reply as Jed Jarvis and Jack Norman both struck twice.

Sunderland (96-7) edged Hetton Lyons (93-8) by three wickets in their DCB Under-18s Central Division clash. Lyons’ Ross Salkeld took 3-16.W

Washington posted 82-8, as Ollie Barrett took 3-23 for Chester-le-Street, who relied on Scott Robson (45) and Josh O’Brien (31) to claim a nine-wicket victory.

Philadelphia conceded their game at Sacriston, while Eppleton did likewise at Burnmoor.

In the North East Division, Boldon were big 71-run winners against Marsden.

Nathan Hewitt (58) and Sam Crews (35) hurried Boldon to 157-6, with Amess snatching 3-29. Liam Curry hit 42 in Marsden’s 86-6 as Joseph Maddison picked up three wickets.
