Junior cricket: Durham Under-15s miss out against Cleveland despite Adradhya Tiwari's heroics

Durham Under-15s succumbed to a six-wicket friendly defeat to the Cleveland Schools Cricket Association at Stockton yesterday.

Durham slipped to 18-3 before being revived by Isaac Unsworth (48 off 74 balls, with three fours and two sixes) and Adradhya Tiwari (46 off 62 balls, with five boundaries), while Jack Hutchinson made 21 and Tom Ward 18.

Durham ended on 175-8 after 45 overs, with Alfie Street taking 3-14.

Cleveland were inspired by Lucas Parry’s unbeaten 95 off 119 balls, with 10 fours and a six, as they secured victory with 13 balls to spare, for the loss of four wickets.

Martin Philpot hit 40 as Cleveland put on 79 for the second wicket.

Tiwari grabbed 3-30 for Durham, with Ben Pentland also striking.

* Durham suffered a 16-run defeat to Yorkshire Ridings in the National Over-60 Championship North Group at Norton.

Kevin Pollard hit 52 in the Tykes’ 154-6 in 34 overs, with David Anderson taking 3-24.

Durham fell to 30-4 in reply and ended up short on 138-9, led by No 9 Dick Longstaff (37no) and last man David Cragg (23no).
