Januzaj looking to '˜prove' himself again, as Leeds United close in on Sunderland midfielder

But the 21-year-old Belgian international, who has signed on a season-long loan from Manchester United, believes he can rediscover his best form under David Moyes.

Moyes gave the winger his debut back in September 2013 and Januzaj enjoys the “freedom” his former manager gives him.

The winger burst onto the scene three years ago, on the back of an outstanding performance against Sunderland.

“The manager gave me the opportunity to come and prove myself again,” said Januzaj.

“I came here to play games and I look forward to working with him again.

“I always enjoyed playing in his teams and the freedom he gives me and that confidence.

“Once you have that confidence, then you can make things happen.

“I am really happy to be here,” added Januzaj, who has joined former Manchester United duo Paddy McNair and Donald Love on Wearside.

Januzaj is likely to start in the Wear-Tees derby against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light on Sunday lunchtime.

“I am looking forward to it, I hear it is a derby game and hopefully we will go for the win,” he added.

Meanwhile, Liam Bridcutt’s move from Sunderland to Leeds United is expected to be confirmed in the next 24-hours.

The Scotland international was due to undergo a medical with the Championship side last night, with a two-year deal on the table.

Both clubs have been negotiating a permanent transfer throughout the summer following the midfielder’s successful loan spell last season.

It comes after the 68-year-old Dutchman - who resigned as head coach at Sunderland last October - resigned just three months into his job as assistant to Holland’s Danny Blind.

Advocaat wasn’t expected to want a return to club management but Fenerbahce are said to have made an offer too good to turn down.
