Jamie said: “It’s brilliant, we’ve just had so much fun since winning the show and we can’t believe we won by such a landslide.

“We feel so lucky to have such amazing fans.”

Collabro took 65% of the vote, beating other winners like dance troupe Diversity, dancing dog acts Ashleigh and Pudsey and Jules O’Dwyer & Matisse, and opera singer Paul Potts.

The group had 92,000 of the total 140,000 votes.

Jamie, 25, from Rickleton, added: “It’s a landslide and we didn’t expect that to happen. We’ve done very well since Britain’s Got Talent and things are going really well for us.

“We’ve just completed out second tour, sold out the Royal Albert Hall, and we’re in talks for a third album, and it’s all happened so fast, and to know that we’ve been voted the favourite ever winner against these amazingly talented acts is brilliant. It feels phenomenal.

“Our fans are called Collaborators and they’re like our family now. We’ve even got street teams who work in every country to promote us.”

Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV1 tonight at 7pm.

Jamie, a former South Tyneside District Hospital Worker, added: “I’ll definitely be watching the show. Hopefully we’ll be making an appearance on it but we don’t know yet.

“We’ll always be thankful to Britain’s Got Talent. Some people who’ve been on the show have fizzled out, but thankfully that hasn’t happened to us and we’re still going strong. We’re just started thinking about our third album but we’re going to take our time with it and really work hard on what we want.”
