Sunderland travel to Walsall today aiming to book their place in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Black Cats are unbeaten in all competitions since the defeat at Burton in mid-September.

“Because of the relentless nature of the games and how quickly they come around, I probably have less time to think about it,” said the Scot.

“I don’t often realise we have been that many games unbeaten. You have to take a step back and say ‘yeah, we’re doing alright for this stage of the season’.

“We just want to keep banging out results. Every time we do that, it sounds very obvious, but we take a point or three closer to promotion. One game less that teams can catch us.”
