Jack Rodwell leaving, Germany knocked out - what a day to be alive: Sunderland fans react on Twitter
Jack Rodwell's exit from Sunderland was celebrated by fans on social media.
The Black Cats came to a settlement with the former England midfielder over the remaining year left on his contract.
Rodwell would have seen his £70,000 a week wages cut by 40% this summer, which was still too hefty for the League One side, and the two parties have come to an agreement which will see the player leave on a free transfer.
Sunderland fans took to Twitter to celebrate on the same day that Germany were knocked out of the World Cup after a 2-0 defeat against South Korea. Here's a selection of their comments:
