Investigation launched after body found on Christmas Eve

Police issued a short statement today, confirming enquiries were under way.

"Northumbria Police are currently investigating after a body was found on December 24th at a recycling site in Houghton," it said.

"A Coroner’s report has been prepared and enquiries are on-going to determine the circumstances."
