Investigation continues into man's death at Port of Sunderland
Northumbria Police were called to Prospect Row, at Sunderland Dock, at 9.50am on Friday, July 27, along with the North East Ambulance Service, following a 61-year-old man’s death.
An enquiry into the circumstances of the man’s death is being conducted by police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
A HSE spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing.

Hide AdA HSE spokeswoman said: “HSE is aware of the incident and working alongside police, who are in the lead of this investigation."Shortly after the incident Sunderland City Council, which owns the port, confirmed that a contractor had died following a suspected industrial accident at the Port of Sunderland.
The local authority said they were deeply saddened by the incident and said their thoughts were with the man's family and friends.
A council spokesman said at the time: “The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
"We will assist Northumbria Police as they work with the company involved to establish what happened.”

A force spokesperson said: “At around 9.50am on Friday, July 27, police were made aware of a suspected industrial accident on Prospect Row, at Sunderland Docks.
“Sadly, a 61-year-old man died as a result.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing with police working in conjunction with the health and safety executive.
“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
