Improvement dilemma
On November 3 an application for planning permission appeared in the Echo concerning the demolition of existing buildings, and the creation of a mixed-use development at the bottom corner of Dykelands Road, Seaburn, where it meets the seafront.
This would include leisure facilities, landscaping, new roads and parking places.
Sounds fine so far, doesn’t it?
People have been debating improvements to the seafront for years in order to attract visitors to our beautiful coast. However, the proposed development will include 279 residences.
Perhaps someone in the Planning Department can explain how a housing estate the size of a large village will encourage families with children to visit and play?
