How times have changed

I was asked the other day if I'd watched Ethel and Ernest, the animated drama based on Raymond Briggs novel telling the story of his own parents who met in 1928 as it had been a TV treat.

So as I hadn’t, later that day, using modern day technology, I was able to back scroll on the seven-day catch up.

Anyway it would have been in the 1930s that Mr Briggs suggested to his wife that they bought a television to which Ethel said “Whats that”.

The reply was “a wireless with pictures on it”.

Ye Gods, I Thought, how times have changed.
