Hide AdSpeaker at Houghton Methodist Women’s Fellowship was Maureen Simpson, from Murton, about40 days in the desert and the temptation arising for the participants of the period.
At the Rotary Club ,vice-president Iain Anderson gave a talk to his colleagues about his recent visit to Vietnam illustrated with excellent photographs of the historic buildings and cultures and the modern development since the strife of the war in the late 1970s.
Sunniside Methodist Women’s and Men’s Fellowships held a joint meeting, with discussion led by Jean Shotton about the Safeguarding project looking after vulnerable people, young and old, and the possibility of appointing a Safeguarding Officer for their group to support the project.
Circuit Superintendent Minister the Reverend Alf Waite spoke to Houghton Methodist Tuesday Fellowship about the Crucifixion and the significance to the history of the Christian religion.
