The coffee mornings with book sale continue throughout the summer season in St Michael’s Church hall, Newbottle, each Thursday from 9.30am to 11.30am with many good books available at attractive prices.

Music and singing by Stewart Cameron and Paul Malcolm will be the entertainment at Houghton Older People’s Enterprise in the Methodists Church hall at 1pm on Thursday.

Fence Houses Weight Watcher’s meeting, run by Tracey Johnson, has won Britain’s Brightest meeting. The friendly and supportive meeting runs on a Monday evening at 6.45pm in Fence Houses Community Centre. Houghton Racecourse Community Association holds Sit and Be Fit courses every two weeks at 9.30am, with the next session on Monday, August 22, and new members would be most welcome. New members would also be welcome to their carpet bowls sessions, weekly on Mondays at 7pm.
