Hetton - Down Your Way

Students of Hetton School will be turning back time to the roaring 1920s for a performance of the hit musical Bugsy Malone this week.

Set in New York, Bugsy Malone tells the story of two gangs comprised of children and their battle over the famous ‘splurge guns’. Featuring well-known songs from the lively Fat Sam’s Grand Slam to the more pensive Tomorrow, this show is not to be missed. The performances will take place today and Wednesday at 7pm. Tickets are on sale for £2 and can be purchased from Miss Stringer or Mrs Humphrey at the school in the Performing Arts Department.

A fundraising event in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society took place at the Hut on Moorsley Road, Moorsley, on Friday, January 29. It was organised by the members and friends of Moorsley and District Community Association with a raffle and activities including a tombola and a game of bingo. A buffet brunch was provided and donations totalled £616.66. This is a fantastic amount for such a small community so the organisers would like to thank everyone who attended, donated or supported the charity at this event. They also look forward to seeing residents and friends for a drink and a chat during the Drop-in mornings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to noon. Everyone is always welcome.
