Hetton - Down Your Way

Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall, Front Street, will be holding a spring fair on Saturday from 10am. There will be raffles, cake stall, tombola stall, new stall, toys, books, CDs, a white elephant stall and lots more. Entertainment will be by Eppleton Academy Primary School Choir. Refreshments will be available.

Easington Lane Community Access point is to hold an Eater fete and coffee morning on Saturday from 9.30am-12.30pm.

Sunderland Age UK is hosting a Easter coffee morning in the Barnard Cafe in the Hetton Centre on Monday, March 21, from 10am-noon. Entry of £1.50 will include tea or coffee and a hot cross bun.

Hetton Lyons Cricket Club is hosting a Sportsman’s dinner on Thursday, March 24, at 7pm in the clubhouse with Kenny Burns and comedian Howard Nicholson. A pie and peas supper is included in the ticket which is £10. For more information contact Trevor Walker on 07805610235

Hetton Local and Natural History society is hosting an evening with Christine Scott on Monday, March 21, at 7pm, who will be talking about family history. Learn the joys and frustration of researching your family history. You are also welcome to bring your family photos along and tell talk about them. The meeting will be held in Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall . Entrance is £2 which includes tea, coffee and a biscuit. For more information, contact Alan Jackson at [email protected]

An Easter event will be held at the Hut on Moorsley Road, Moorsley, on Saturday from 2pm-4pm. A prize will be awarded for the best child and adult Easter bonnet and the most original decorated egg (boiled eggs will be provided, or you can bring your own). There will also be tombolas, Easter raffle and the chance to make Easter cards to send to friends or relatives. Any children attending will receive a free chocolate Easter egg and must come with a responsible adult. Due to the size of the venue, pushchairs will not be admitted. The committee would like to wish all residents and friends a Happy Easter.

Eppleton Cricket Club Junior cricket coaching sessions continue tomorrow from 5pm-6pm at Hetton School. The session is open to all ages from 13 and below and will cost £2. The Church Road club also run sessions for Under 13s and Under 15s at the Emirates ICG in Durham every Sunday from 2pm-3pm. New players are welcome.
