Hetton - Down Your Way

Santa will be visiting the Hut on Moorsley Road, Low Moorsley, on Saturday, December 3, from 4pm to 6pm. There is no charge to see him and every child will get a present but a timed ticket is required. If you would like a ticket, call at the Hut during the drop-in coffee morning on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 10am to noon. There will also be a Christmas raffle and tombolas as well as refreshments. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and no pushchairs will be allowed in the Hut due to lack of space

On November 10, Hetton IM Church welcomed children from Eppleton Academy and Hetton Primary Schools to the Bible Comes Alive. A big thank you to Ian Wren, who narrated, and to the actors Dorothy Rogers, Beryl Wakefield, Georgina Smith, Stan Cummings, Len Oliver, Peter Lusby and Wilf Kelly. A big thank you too to everyone who worked behind the scenes.

St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Easington Lane will be holding its Christmas fair on Saturday from 1.30pm. There will be Raffles, tombola, cake stall, books, toys, white elephant stall also Santa in his grotto. Hetton Lyons Primary School Choir will entertain. Refreshments will be available.

The 36 Hetton Squadron Air Cadets took part in the Remembrance Day Service at the Apostolic Church, Easington Lane, followed by laying of the wreaths at the War Memorial.

Hetton Local and Natural History Society is hosting an evening with Peter Collins, who will talk on Nicholas Wood the famous railway and mining engineer at Hetton Coal Company, a resident Hetton Hall and burried in St Nicholas Graveyard, on Monday, November 28, at 7pm in the Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall. Hetton Local and Natural History society will also be holiday a celebration of Christmas past with Jennifer Tindall, who will talk on old Christmas traditions. Cake, pie and savouries will be provided including mulled wine, mulled fruit juice, tea, coffee with Christmas music being played. Lots of activities going on including displays of Christmas past, handicrafts by Ann Thompson, Christmas quiz and carols.
