Hetton Local and Natural History society are hosting an evening with Peter Collins who will talk on Nicholas Wood the famous railway and mining engineer at Hetton Coal Company, a resident Hetton Hall and buried in St Nicholas Graveyard. Everyone is welcome on Monday, November 28, at 7pm in the Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall with an entrance fee of £2 which includes tea/coffee and a biscuit

Hetton Local and Natural History Society will be holding a celebration of Christmas past with Jennifer Tindall who will talk on old Christmas traditions. Cake, pie and savouries will be provided including mulled wine, mulled fruit juice, tea, coffee with Christmas music being played. Lots of activities going on including displays of Christmas past, handicrafts by Ann Thompson, Christmas quiz and carols. Everyone is welcome on Monday, December 5, at 7pm in the Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall with an entrance fee of £3, which includes tea/coffee and a biscuit. Hetton IM Church are pleased to welcome some special guests during the December services. The dates are as follows, Sunday, December 4, at 10.30am, Eppleton Academy school choir with speaker Dave Glover, and among their guests will be the mayor of Hetton. Saturday, December 10, at 6.30pm, carol praise with Sherburn Hill Salvation Army band. Sunday, December 11, at 10.30am, Hetton Primary School choir. Sunday, December 18, at 10.30am, carol service, and Sunday, December 25, at 10am, Christmas Day family service. We extend a warm welcome to everyone. Come and join us in celebrating the birth of Christ.

On Friday, December 15, Hetton School students will be receiving a talk from Premier League and international referee Mark Clattenburg, in which he will be discussing: aiming high, resilience, standing out from the crowd, (‘Respect, Learn, Achieve’).
